Continental Airlines Announces New Service From Its New York Hub to Belize; Improved Service to Guatemala

HOUSTON, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) today announced new service between the airline's New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, and Belize City, Belize, with continuing service to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, as well as improved, nonstop service to Guatemala from Liberty International. Service on the new routes begins Dec. 14, 2002, pending government approval for the Belize flight.
Continental will operate a 737-800 Boeing aircraft on the Saturday-only Belize City flight. Continental flight 1979 will depart Liberty International at 9:15 a.m., arriving in Belize City at 12:40 p.m. The flight continues to San Pedro Sula, departing at 1:35 p.m. and arriving at 2:30 p.m. The nonstop return flight will depart San Pedro Sula at 3:25 p.m., arriving at Liberty International at 8:35 p.m. The aircraft seats 14 passengers in the first class cabin and 141 in coach.
