Can anyone tell me the general prices of wine at the grocery store? Also the price of a case (how many in a case) of Belikin.
Thanks everyone.

Buy your beer straight from th distributor or have your hotel get it for you. About $20 US a case best I remember. Buy your wine at the duty free in the Belize city airport or Wine Devine on AC. Prices aren't bad but the selection stinks at the grocery store. Most folks drink beer or the delicious varieties of local rum that kick butt. Leave the wine at home.

As a tourist you are allowed to bring in something near 2 liters, my dad is a wine guy in San Antonio and he routinely brings in as many bottles as he can carry with no problem, I say go for it! There are some good wine lists at several restaurants, but the prices are higher for what we serve because of the duties we pay to import and resell.

Belikin is $38 Belize a case (24 bottles) plus deposit for the bottles. Grocery stores have a fairly good selection of wines, French, California, Chile, South Africa and Australia. Prices are 25 to 50% higher than in the States. Wine de Vine has a selection of more "up-scale" wines but prices are about twice what you would pay in the States. I would be surprised if you can not find wines to your liking in the stores. Good drinking.

I'm a wine drinker and had a hard time finding good wine in AC ... learned the hard way not to buy it at the grocery store, very expensive and the bottle had "turned", and it was the local Rendevous wine! Take the time to go to Rendevous to buy it direct from them ... didn't try Wine Devine (I was staying North of town and getting back and forth was kind of a hassle). When we go back next year I'm going to carry all I can ... although the coconut Rum did get me through .....

Thanks for the tips! Seems hubby and I will be hauling in a couple of litres each if we are into wine come January (although nothing beats a cold beer or an "umbrella" drink on a hot day).

On another note, is there a book exchange or a place to buy novels on AC?
