Hello everyone,
This has been my first post in almost a year. My first trip to Belize is coming in January, so time for some insight. I have been reading alot about Lamanai and Altun Ha and according to the message board it seems that Lamanai is the one to see. So, with that question answered, my next question is...What tour operator is the best? There will be 10 adults and we are looking for a special time-aren't we all? Also, we are going January4-11th. Is that usually a busy time of year or does it die down right after the holidays. We like a lot of action, so are hoping that things are hopping.

Ready, get set, GO!!!

Since nobody else has put in their "2 cents" I will.... can't go wrong with Searious Adventures. Willie and Ricky are both fabulous guides and you won't be disappointed. I went to Lamanai with them in May and had a great time! You can find them on the dock by Ruby's Hotel, or email them at searious@btl.net laugh laugh laugh

I agree -- I did the manatee tour with Willie and Altun Ha with Ricky in July. Both tours were well done.

Lamanai is a great trip but be advised it is a LONG day! Seaduced, Searious and Tanisha all offer great trips and are all great companies. Tanisha (I think) is far more wildlife oriented. Be prepared to spend 1 hour on the boat to the mainland, 45 minutes in a bus, and almost another hour on the river getting to Lamanai. But you get to see lots of great wildlife and the boat ride through the mangroves at top speed is a lot of fun. If you want to cut out 4 hours of travel time altogether, Tropic Air now does the Lamanai excursion (for a little more $) and has you home by lunch so you can have the afternoon to do other activities. I've done both trips, and they are both great. It is just a matter of preference.
