Starting to write info down for grandma, who is taking care of the kids when we are in AC. Wondering how she can call us if there is an emergency(International code and such). What would be the string of numbers? We are staying at a house, so there is now toll-free number. Also, does any one know about calling cards from AC.

I can answer the second part of your question. You can get an international calling card before you leave. They are widely available - I got mine from Wal-Mart. One thing to keep in mind - you will get fewer calling minutes than what is listed on the front of the card. I paid $18.00 US for a 250 minute calling card; however, from Belize, it was only good for about 30 minutes.

When grandma calls you in Belize, she should dial (011)501-26-##### whatever your number at the house is. 501 is the country number and 26 the prefix for San Pedro. Think I saw on the board you were staying at Casa Tortuga. Maria and Ishmael should be able to help you.

Dialing San Pedro from US: 011-501-226-****. Sam's Club (of WalMart) has phone cards that will be 34.7 cents per minute back to the US (the cards show 3.47 cents per minute for use in the US). While in San Pedro, dial 115 for a Belize operator, ask for AT&T Direct and then follow the phone number and PIN number on your card. After you have AT&T Direct, do NOT dial the "1" for the 800 number on your card nor for the phone number you are calling. The same Sam's Club card can be used for US to Belize calls for 25 cents per minute. Happy trip!!

Yep, You are right. We are staying at Casa Tortuga. Sounds like all of the staff are quite helpful and friendly

Thanks everybody for all of the info. I'll be passing it along to all the others in my group.

Thanks again, what would all of us new comers do without you??
