My wife and I are in our early 20s and thinking of venturing to Belize for a couple of years (before we have kids to tie us down). I have a friend that travels to AC often and filled my head with ideas. Neither of us have been down to Belize but hope to make a trip in June to check everything out and go from there, but before that I have some questions.

What does it take to become a resident and get a work permit?

My wife is graduating in May with her degree in Elementary Education, specialty in Math. What is the school system like in Belize and is there any way she could get a job teaching, or would that be out of the question?

I was also wondering if anyone knew of a real estate site online I could possibly look at pictures of houses that are currently for sale so I know what to expect.

Do Belizeans accept foreigners to come into there home land and work, or does that cause conflict?

I know I have a lot of questions and I have been reading a lot lately on this site and many others. My answers are probably out there but I have not found them yet. Also I plan on getting the Adapters Kit book tonight, if my local book store has it in. Thank You everyone.

Thank you for the links they were very helpful.

I am still wondering about the teaching part of my earlier post. I have been searching hard for that but haven't found anything about it. Anyone know where I can find information about that?

Recommend you check with Island Academy private school and the principals of the San Pedro High School and Roman Catholic Primary School.

Thank you for the list of schools in the area I could contact. If anyone knows where I could possibly find the contact information, possibly a website for the schools I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
