Been doing some serious shopping for places to stay and need some help! Leaning toward Captain Morgan's as we are looking for a two bedroom, but also like Xanadu and Banyan Bay. Any first hand experience we can lean on as to pros and cons of each? Thank you

Of the three, Banyan Bay has in my opinion the nicest, most luxurious accommodations -- really big 1,000 sq. ft. two bedroom suites, nicely and tastefully furnished, full kitchens, two baths (one with whirlpool) living area and balcony. It has a huge pool and is on one of the best beaches on the island.

Xanadu is very nice as well. A little odd looking on the outside but inside very attractive two-level units. Though the units aren't as large as Banyan Bay, they are less expensive and you might choose them based on value. Nice stretch of beach, new pool.

If staying at Captain Morgan's, I think the condo units are the way to go.

Xanadu is small, quiet, great service, 12-ish minute walk to town, new beautiful pool. Owners live on the property and are involved in day to day operations. All 3 of your considerations are great places. Happy trip...

We stayed at Xanadu in November. I loved it, and would recommend it to anyone. The condos are large and nicely furnished, and are a great price - you would easily pay twice as much for something comparable in the States. The grounds are beautifully landscaped - it looks just like the website! There is a little grocery store about 100 yards from the hotel - very convienent!

Banyan Beach is about a 5 minute walk down the beach from Xanadu. It has a larger and nicer beachfront, and the pool is larger. It also has a beach-side restaraunt - I think it is called Rico's. When we stayed at Xanadu, we walked down to Rico's several times.

I don't have first-hand information about Captain Morgan's, so I can't help you there. Plug in the names of your choices in the search feature, and you will find more info than you thought possible. Have fun!! smile

i stayed at caribe island last june, with my message board friends debbie & denver dan. they have every suite type from efficiencies to 3 BR lofts. all with kitchens, air, cable tv, snack & pool bar. very clean too.

all secluded at the south end. it was great, and many boarders have stayed there.

try caribeisland.com or there is a link on the "Lodgings" prompt at the top of page.

i've never been to xanadu (passed it on our golfcart) but i hear it is nice too. they are different. i personally did the thatched cabana thing twice & do not care for it. the condo was MUCH nicer!

i have pics if you want!!

oh, the cabanas i tried were at journey's end (that one had a really cute crab in it!) and ramon's (kinda small). both got WAY too much sand in the bed (and everywhere else). just fyi.

Xanadu is condos, the thatch is just for looks. The condos are nicely finished, quiet concrete domes built to withstand 300 mile an hour winds. The co-owner is an artist and the condos are beautifully decorated and finished.
