Anyone's opinion on the best bars & restaurants in AC? Cheap? Expensive? Trendy? Rip offs? Best entertainment? Best drinks in town? Best hole in the wall? Local Favorites?
I can't wait to come to town and I am hungry and ALWAYS thirsty!! smile laugh

Great local food at low, low prices: Los Cocos restaurant; north end of town just past Richie's Supermarket - ask there and they will point you towards it.

Wonderful dessert: Cracked Coconut at Casa Picasso restaurant south of town in San Pablo area.

Excellent meals for tourists prices: Capricorn restaurant, north of river cut several miles - wonderful beach setting; small and personal

Great bar with Sunday beach barbecue: BC's Bar, just south of Sunbreeze Hotel on the beach

Gotta add to the list...Mango's, a bar/restaurant just south of Ruby's on the beach. Thatched roof, great music playing (reggae), and the co-owner, James is a musician as well. Great food and great vibes, and best of all, right on the beach. Favorite: "liquado"...an icey, fruity, yummy drink made with a blender. Try it!

I'm from north, my favourite list is:
Sweet Basil, Capricorn, Rendezvous, Mambo and Portofino. You'll find all of them on the "Restaurant section" of Ambergriscaye.com

Just have to add, although the food was OK I got the WORST service I have ever had anywhere in the world at Mango's. Just awful.

This Spring will be our 11th trip...so, my personal opinion....I think "Celi's" is one of the BEST places anywhere for dinner!!! Check with your hotel about "beach bar b q's" happening!! We consistently eat at Celi's, Papi's (awesome, in Boca Del Rio...) Estel's By the Sea (tell Charlie we said HI)!! Hideaway for lunch/breakfast...Estel's for crab legs, I could go on and on......Ambergris Delight, Sharks for pizza (or the Peperonis)either way, ask around and you'll be "lead" there!!! But NEVER EVER forget the ladies working at the "street vendors" !!! Best and Cheapest food there!!! And Jade Garden is a favorite....but, so is eating with friends at their homes and sharing..............HAVE FUN, leave your expectations elsewhere, FLOW with AC...if you don't the first day-you will the 2nd.....be easy and take it slow.....lol, C

Definately El Divino at Banana Beach, great food and bar
Coconuts Hotel, great food and bar
Papi's, wonderful chicken soup with rice
Hot Dogs at the beach bar at Mata Rocks
Mangos is good although I'm not sure I would say great, but then that's just my opinion.
