I will be in AC from Feb 12th - Feb 18th. Do I need to reserve a golf cart now or can I do it when I get there? Also, my hotel does not have bicycles. Do you know where I could rent them? Also, should I be trying to reserve fishing trips before I get there? I know the island is pretty booked next week. Also, any great places for a Valetine's dinner? Thanks in advance!

I would suggest booking your golf cart in advance.

book with Moncho's

Hi, trina I would suggest the Orange Walk area. There is a lot to offer there. In particular there is the Lamanai Outpost lodge that offers exactly what you're looking for. You can contact me if you need more info at [email protected]

There's a bike rental place on the SW corner of the intersection . . .I think right across the street from the Palace Casino. If my memory is wrong then it is only one block further west.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

It might be worth talking to a fishing guide now if the island will be busy that week. Two gentlemen who have provided us great times over the years are Ramon & Severo Guerrero, phone 226-2325, 226-2324 respectively. They are great fishermen and fun to spend a day with; each cooks a wonderful beach picnic with your catch and will send fillets back with you for you or a restaurant to cook for future meals. Either Guerrero will show you a good time. They specialize in reef and flats fishing. Using a Sam's Club AT&T prepaid phone card, you can call them from the US for just under 25 cents per minute.

You can schedule snorkeling trips after you arrive. Our favorite is Alfonse Graniel, L'il Alfonse under "Goods & Services" menu above, phone: 614-5450; 226-3537; great guy & guide, wonderful with people & fish; ask him about other snorkeling sites after you visit Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley.

Capricorn Restaurant is a nice experience for the Valentine's dinner: wonderful food, open air, right on the beach, small, secluded. Recommend you make reservations as they sell out for special occasions. They have a link via "Goods & Services" above.

We second the suggestion for Moncho's golf carts.

Happy trip!

The recent explosion of cart rental places should ease the ability to get a reservation. I'll bet your hotel will help you there. Fishing is subject to the kind of fishing you want to do, of course. restaurants will fill for Valentines, some of us are doing special menus, go to goods and services to check out what's near you, then figure out how close Casa Picasso is to you...decent food in a nice atmosphere*
Have fun!!
Chris
*note: I own the place, my wife's the chef.

Casa Picasso celebrated three yearsthis May, thanks to all of you!
