I'm 15 and live in Minnesota so I need some answers for some questions for a school paper. If you would not mind.

What attracted you to this job?

How did you arrive at this job? Did you know you would do this all your life?

What training or prepreation did you need?

What special skills do you need for this job? What aptitudes do you need?

What are the best and worst parts of the job?

What is an "average" day like?

What are the working conditions like?

Was it easy to get this job?

Thank You very much for your time. You can e-mail the answers be sure to include the question to:
[email protected] or just post back.
Thanks again.

Sundin

P.S. I sent the same to Toad, just decided to get some more info.

What attracted you to this job?

Started toying with PC's and did'nt want to pay someone else to work on mine. Saw a possible goldmine..ha..not so easy...

How did you arrive at this job? Did you know you would do this all your life?

Was injured on construction job..took settlement money and went to school. Worked on Surface to Air and Cruise Missles in the Navy. Never thought I would leave construction field.

What training or prepreation did you need?
2 year intensive training school.

What special skills do you need for this job?

ALOT of PATIENCE..good eyes..dedication to job mission. Calm temperment. Ability to adapt to new concepts and changeing customer needs.

What aptitudes do you need?
Never get arrested..you MUST be able to get Top Secret Clearence to have a future in this field.
HONESTY is required.
Attention to detail is a must. You must be ultra organised. Must be able to deal with changeing job tasks without loss of productivity.
What are the best and worst parts of the job?
Best part...Meeting interesting people and makeing a very complex system work as planned.
Worst part...Haveing the complex system "you" planned and designed not work.

What is an "average" day like?

Picture a Forest Ranger in the middle of fire season. Mostly dull security issue's (stopping hackers) reseting mailboxs and accounts, changeing passwords, working with client to prepare for future needs. ENDLESS MEETINGS.

What are the working conditions like?
Fairly good income. Worked at Metro DC Police headquarters and all substations.(Districts) Very high stress after 9/11. Worked 24/7 for 2 months. Many people who do this work have Super Size ego's and it's easy to get burned out from overwork and stress.

Was it easy to get this job?

No, took me nearly a year of nonstop self promotion to get any company to accept me with little or no experience in the field. Most want you to do intern work for a least a year.

Hope this helps you...if you need more details..let me know.
