I read this at the SP town council link,

"The San Pedro Town Council is very concerned with the traffic situation on the island and wants to receive comments, suggestions and views from the general public. We are asking everyone concerned to please send your ideas to Deputy Mayor Baldmar Graniel at the San Pedro Town Council (e-mail [email protected]). Let us together work in solving this problem that is effecting our town and tourism industry".

What, exactly does this mean??

Being a newbie arriving in April, does the town council concern center on the danger of beer-inflamed golf cart and bicycle drivers??

If so, I want to properly equip myself with a cart and plenty of Beli's, while traveling around.

From a personal view, I can say we spent lots of time looking behind us or playing dodge the vehicle and pothole.
The streets are narrow and the vehicles were in a hurry.

The Golf carts looked like SUV's.

I was surprised to say the least.
It's no wonder we didn't see anyone or anything while we were on the streets, walking.

thanks, in the game of chicken, it's knowing when to flinch. I know what I have to do.

Just to let you know, it is now against the law to have an open beer or other alcohol in your cart, or even in your possession in public, and they are giving tickets for such.

Hi DP! If you're gonna drink, better to leave the golf cart at home! They are more particular nowadays. Unless you are way out, you probably will find you won't want a cart more than a day or two. Its so easy to walk everywhere, and now with the extra construction and traffic, a lot easier. Have fun!

I'm surprised more of the regulars haven't chimed in--when I 1st visited SP 4 yrs ago, there wasn't more than a handful of motor vehicles (mostly just service vehicles and a few taxis) and it was great walking down the streets in town, just peds, golfcarts and bikes. Every year there are more and more vehicles allowed on the island, they stink, they drive too fast and walking is much more hazardous to one's health. Unfortunate for the tourists seeking a quaint, quiet place, but I understand how it is considered a step up in life for a native to have something like this. I am hesitant to send my two cents in to them because I am only a tourist; not a Belizean, but I hope they take our opinions into consideration since we supply so much in the way of livelihood and income for the island.
