MissJenny Offline
Hi everyone! I will be coming to AC for a much needed vacation May 20-25. I am traveling with my boyfriend and we are on a tight budget. I am not interested in anything fancy... basically just a bed and a private bathroom. Preferably very close, if not directly on the water. We would also like a place that is reasonably close to nightlife, activities, and fun stuff! Certainly not looking for a resort atmosphere.
Any suggestions where I should start?

Look at Lily's, Ruby's or the Conchshell.

Seashell, Bless You My Child!

Hi Miss Jenny..........you may wonder what this is all about. It's kind of become a joke on this site. I have a REAL PASSION for a place called Paradise Resort Hotel..its on the internet. Not Paradise Villas. Ok, here's the deal...my husband and I have been going there about 9 years. I love it. You can contact them at Paradise@btl.net. Or see them on the net. Ok, it's an old time Belizean place, just a couple minutes walk from town. To me, its the best place on the caye. I get lots of flack from people who like condos. This is certainly not a condo. No pool, but you don't really need one. Most of them are four or five foot deep, and short in distanced (trust me, I'm 5'3", and I can attest to that). There are other places to swim. It is mostly thatched places, as is Ramon's, but much less expensive. At the cheapest, about $75, but I'd suggest, if you can afford it, ask about the $130 "villas". I like V3. I'm already signed up for next February. To me, it's wonderful. Huge room, kitchenette, TV, AC, Fan, porch, beautiful sand yard and wonderful plants all over. The staff is great. Need something, they will get it for you. They also bring in fresh flowers for you for the whole time you are there. Check it out on the internet. I hope you love it as much as we do. When we left in March, another woman checked out the same day we did,she loved it so much she cried when she had to go. Trust me, I'm a fair person. If it wasn't wonderful, I wouldn't say it is. BUT, and I got this really well recently, you won't like it if you like "froo-froo". This is old time Belize!

And, please, the cranky ones, off my back! I can love it if I want to, and share it with other people, who just may love it, too!

And I'd be willing to bet that they can do better than $75 in the off-season, ie: May 20-25.

Yup! It never hurts to ask, especially in the upper priced ones where there are more conveniences.

Respect to you Pedro, but I think Ruby's and Tomas' are pretty basic. Now, if these are frisky 20 year olds, they'll be fine. But we need to hear from them re the age issue.
