Suzanne - there are some available on some of the outer Cayes. One I know of is Long Caye. Check out the following link:

I might be staying on Ranguana Caye this weekend, 3 wooden cay houses on an island about 19 miles off the coast of Placencia right on the reef, perfect for walk in snorkeling, scuba, fishing, kayaking. US$100.00 per night, meals extra at 35.00pp per day. Other places similiar out there as well.

Hi Suzanne. What do you mean by huts? There are huts, and there are huts. I've been to Lamont's on Glover's Reef, and if you want basic, girl, that is it! We went two or three years ago, and it was $140 a week (total for a couple, not a day, the whole week and that included a boat ride reminiscent of The African Queen to and from the mainland). I don't know what it is now. It is so basic, even I, the most flexible of travelers, by the end, couldn't wait to get back to Ambergris and a shower. But, it was a great experience. No electric, I'd suggest the larger, two story huts, you get a butane burner, some pans and flatware which you will want to wash first, and bottled water, and you are on your own (actually, they will sell you fish, but most of us caught our own). Take in what you particularily are fond of, unless you love fish. The toilet is down the lane. No shower, you swim, or scuba to cleanse yourself. It was a great place, but certainly a BIG version of rough travel. But, we had a ball. You stay a week, and we had a great time, all of the people on that little nine acres diving, hanging out, and cooking together. Good fun, but you need to know, it is zero frills. The odd charm of it is that you really do end up all working together, and having a heck of a time.
