I need information about Ambergris Caye for a school project. Could anyone tell me the amount of money an average fisherman(or woman) makes oin the island and how much they would have made about 15 years ago? I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you!

Recommend you E-mail Severo Guerrero, E-mail: servero@btl.net. He is a excellent fishing guide and may be able to answer your question or refer you to someone who will. Recommend you distinguish to him if you are interested in the income of fishing guides or commercial fishermen; the former take out tourists to catch fish and the latter fish by a variety of methods to catch and sell fish & lobsters. Severo is a very nice man and is also San Pedro's deputy mayor. Good luck with the project!

depends on who owns the boat. if the boat is owned by a norteamericano, they make very little.
i personally know one San Pedrano boatowner that made $200.00 for about 6 hours work.
If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

Another idea for information on commercial fishermen: Caribena Producers Co-Op, San Pedro, phone 501-226-2011, 501-226-2035. This is the place where many fishermen sell their fish and lobsters.
