Or maybe you can have both, in-laws and a bit of romance. Ask Victoria House about their house on the southside of the property. It has a wonderful masterbedroom, huge kitchen and eating area, great sitting/entertainment area, nice decks and it's own private pool. There are other bedrooms that can be entered separately from the main part of the house and/or treated as if part of the house. I'm sorry I can't remember what it is called or how many actual bedrooms it has before you start getting into the individual bedrooms that are on the second floor.

Ok, guys, you all know this is mine!
I have a pet, just want you to know, I am not in the business of selling travel (once was with Pan Am, now not, I just do it for fun), but I really love this place, that's why I've gone there nearly a decade. It's called Paradise Resort Hotel, not the Paradise Villas. It is great old time Belize but completely comfortable, and very peaceful. I think it was the second or third hotel built on the caye. The smaller cabanas have no kitchens, but the best view, particularily the second floor ones. For what you sound like you are looking for, I would suggest you ask them about V2 or V3 from what you said. Still a good view, but not as great. Big room, two beds each, a nice kitchenette, breakfast bar, big dining room table, TV, one has a microwave, the other a blender (blender is good to make liquados - yum! And, roomy porch, palapa restaurant that serves until early evening, and the nicest people ever. That's the best part of why I love it. I cannot tell you how generous they were to my husband and I on Valentine's Day and my birthday this year (room filled with flowers and ballons!. But, they are that way every year! It's a huge yard, no pool, on the water with a break front, so no swimming unless you go off the dock. There are beaches just a few minutes walk away. If you like the fancy condo places, it won't work for you, but if you want the real old Belize ethics and treatment (flowers every day - go to the pharmacy if you need something, etc.), couldn't do better. They are also a short walk, like a minute, to the edge of town. You might contact them at Paradise@btl.net. They also have a web site. As you can tell, I love the place! It's quiet, although you can sometimes get some noise, from Wet Willies, three properties down when they crank it up. It sounds perfect for what you are looking for. Let me know. Hope it works for you. Certainly does work for us!

FYI, we're in a similar situation, and have reserved Casa Caracol (3 bedroom, 2 bath house on the beach) for our stay. We sent out a bunch of inquiries, and they were our top choice. Second runner-up for us was Belizean Reef for 3 bedroom, 2 bath accomodations. Both spots can be found on the "lodging" section of this site.
This will be our first trip to AC, but both places have favorable mention in various locations on this site.
Have a great trip!

Forgot to mention rates...high season is $130 for V2 or V3 (that means villa since I didn't mention it before, it's probably a lot less now. And, you are not in the same house...this is usually good. As in all places of Belize, if there is a bunch of you, they will, I am sure, cut you a deal. Just want to say here again, I have no personal gain here. I just have known so many people who literally cried when they left this gentle place, that I want to share it.

You should know that this place is directly across the road from the power station with some very noisy diesel generators roaring away 24 hours a day.

Hi Jesse. No, you are thinking of Paradise Villas. Paradise Resort is no where near the power station. It's very quiet. Paradise Villas is fine if you take one of the ones closer to sea.

Marie, you must know after your many years here that the Paradise Resort is DIRECTLY ACROSS from the power plant! I'll go tomorrow and take some fotos to post on here so everyone can see for themselves.

Casa Caracol looks like it fits the bill, if you don't mind sharing a place. A few of the houses listed on this site, are pretty sweet. Banyan Bay is in such a great location, what a beach. Victoria House is supreme, but dunno about cost. have a great time!

Frankly, Marie, in my mind's eye, Paradise Resort property backs onto the road right across from the power station. I used to cut through there all the time before the big fence was patched.

The power plant is closer to Paradise Villas, you never hear a bit of it at Paradise Resort. Belikins or otherwise. The resort has a small private road to it, and a very large piece of vacant property between it and the main road and the power plant. The worse noise you will hear is when Wet Willies winds up on Wednesday.

There’s a lot of ambient noise across the audio spectrum in San Pedro town, and it's all homogenized. Don't miss the forest because of the trees.

Hi, If I May, would like to suggest the Blue Tang Inn. Located just north of Paradise Villas or 2 minuts out of town. Very convinient place, not too far away from town not too close in town. They have excellent suites with king beds, a/c, fully equipped kichen and excellent ocean view. They also have a pool and umbrellas on the wooden deck next to the pool. I believe they also, have great prices for this season as low as US$75.00 per night. Give them a try. Call them at 501-226-2326 or emai them at bluetanginn@btl.net. You will not regreat it... Karma Originally posted by zaasp: Hi everyone, thanks for the previous info, but plans have changed. I will now be looking for accomodation for 6 people, our parents have decided they want to go. We would still like beachfront but less romantic. Both set of parents are pretty thrifty, so we'll need a full kitchen. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

We've stayed at paradise villas three times, granted we were in either poolside or beachfront and there was no noise from the power plant. If we walked the road into town, right past the power plant, we couldn't even hear it until we were adjacent to the side door on the side away from PV. I wouldn't consider this to be a problem.

We stayed at Paradise Villa in Jan. If you are to the side of the pool you will be fine. If you mean the units behind the pool that back up to the road. The noise is a problem. Not that I remember the plant noise but the road noise woke me every morning at 6 am. Who are you renting your unit from? If it is Nellie or Tradewinds they have other units. If you are stuck just take some ear plugs. Paradise some times has to be made. Enjoy!

Hi It's Me! If you are just behind the pool, you should be ok, its the ones against the road that are louder. Also, Wet Willies on Wednesday can get really loud, so be advised to rest up on Tuesday! Have fun!

You could always go the house rental route as well. My very first trip to Belize...our group of 7 rented Casa Bonita from Mary Hawthorne at Caye Management. The house was perfect. Had a care taker as well. The care takers wife came every morning and washed any dishes we had and put fresh rainwater in the fridge for us. She also offered to wash any clothes we had at no extra charge. (this may have changed) It has a nice dock with wood lounge chairs on the end. We were able to cook when we wanted and there was a supply of games and a small selection of books to read. Bottom Time dive shop picked us up for our dives each morning. The house is about a mile north of the cut. You can walk into town or if you want...rent a golf carts for the week. The only draw back is that the ferry doesn't run all night so we used a water taxi at night. All in all....we were very satisfied with our arrangements. I'd stay there again in a heart beat. Here's the link for the house: http://www.cayemanagement.com/north3.html And the link for Caye Management: http://www.cayemanagement.com/ Where ever you stay...ENJOY!
