Has anyone stayed at Mata Rocks Resort?
Your opinion? We are thinking of staying late October, early November. When exactly is the hurricane season? Thanks for the input!!!!

Hmm, well, that is the tail end of hurricane season.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

Hurricane season runs six months, from start of June thru end of November. However, Nov. hurrincanes are quite rare. Also, the late season hurricanes are more likely to develop off Africa, as opposed to early season hurricanes, which tend to develop off the Yucatan Peninsula... So I'd say late Oct / early Nov would be fairly safe as far as avoiding hurricanes. Personally I'd probably still be looking to get travel insurance. Ya never know when the fates will conspire...

sorry, haven't stayed at Mata Rocks, still a AC virgin

but not for much longer cool

Not to ruffle anyone's feathers, but I was in Cozumel when Hurricane Mitch came along and that was the end of October.

Actually, October is prime hurricane season in the western Caribbean. September is the peak-peak month, but several of the biggest storms to have hit Belize have come in October or early November, including Hurricane Hatti in 1961 (Halloween) and Iris in 2001. Most of the storms earlier in the season are tropical storms rather than major hurricanes.

Hurricanes and tropical storms making landfall in Belize by month over the last 100 years or so, from the Belize National Meteorological Service:

June: 5
July: 4
August: 3
September: 17
October: 10
November: 3
