Hi again,

Since fishing will be important to us - I am asking more specifically even though I asked in a previous post. If you have contact info for the people you recommend, please provide it.

We want to get up early and wade the flats around the island - if that is a good idea. Please recommend where and suggested flies and species.

Guides who specialize in fly fishing? Who and where to go? Are there smaller tarpon around this time of year and if so, where?

Reef fishing - for some general fun and table fare? With whom and where?

Billfishing - where and with whom?

Are Dorado around this time of year? I would love to hook up with some on flyrod.

I went to the web page and am very disturbed with the last two pictures. Jr. holding a turtle! One of the things I value about Belize is the love of the enviornment.
Every good dive master admonishes divers to NOT TOUCH ANYTHING.
It breaks my heart to see this being done. When locals do it tourists think it is OK.
May I suggest that the last two pictures be taken off of that website?

For Billfishing, Pedro Graniel...absolutely the best. Senor Graniel is a "hardworking" fishing guide and has won many local Billfishing Championships. If a fish is to be caught, Pedro will find it!! His number is in the book!!

Pedro Graniels # in San Pedro is 026-2584. He is also good for any kind of fishing you would desire.

Hi Harriette: In the mid-eighty's, Scuba Diving magazines where featuring pictures of Scuba Divers riding Sea-turtles, Eagle Rays, and Nurse Sharks. Television is still cluttered with documentaries about provoking Great White Sharks. A picture of a fisherman swimming with a sea turtle just doesn't bother me. That was probably the "highpoint" of the day for the Turtle. Take care: Bill

I agree... there is nothing wrong at all with touching sea turtles, nurse sharks, etc. The sea life responds to human touch.

The problem lies with the divers who just have to break off a piece of coral, etc., as a take home present. Some divers make it through customs, etc, but I have also seen many who were caught and paid a very heavy price, afterwhich they had to hand over the souviner...
