Sorry to disagree but I would DEFINITLEY go with Willie at SEArious Adventures! He is great, born and raised San Pedrano and so smart about their culture it's unbelievable! They have a link to this site - check it out - searious@btl.net
Thank you both for your recommendations. I am not familar with Daniel Nunez of Tanisha, so I can't speak about him. We used Searious several times last March and went with Willie to Altun Ha/Maruba and also the Manatee/Goff's Caye/Caye Caulker day trip. Willie is a great tour guide and a funny, kind soul. I will probably go with Searious to Lamanai but wanted to check around for some other possibilities. (Don't want to miss the opportunity to broaden my horizons!) Thanks so much again.
Anybody else out there with another recommendation?
Gela - No I haven't been out with Tanisha before -I guess I didn't mean to use the word disagree! I've known Willie for 11 years and been out with him on many trips even when he used to work at Hustler (back in the day!) with his brothers. Just a favorite I guess!
I've used Searious for other tours and like them as well as Tanisha. Just haven't used them both for the same tour. I guess it's safe to say that either company would be great!

We happened to use Seaduced last summer and that was also a very good trip. I'll bet you would be satisfied with any of the 3 mentioned. They all offer pretty much the same tour features, such as the food & drink! :p
Thanks again everyone for your input. I'll let you know in my trip report when I get back who we choose and how it went. We leave in a little under 4 weeks!!!!! I am pretty sure no matter who we decide to go with to Lamanai we will have a great time. We usually have fun no matter where we are. mobunny
Tropic Air does a deal to Lamanai. Fly to Orange Walk(Tower Hill). Catch a river boat (the river part of the tour is a hi-lite) to the ruins. Spend a couple of relaxed hrs at Lamanai. The advantages are: 1) Avoid the cruise ship crowds(several hundred) 2) Avoid 6-7 hrs travel (1 hr to the mainland, 1 hour by bus to the New River, 1 hour on the river to the ruins) then back of course. 3) You are back in San Pedro by 1:00pm. The flite time is about 15-18 min's to and the same back. 4) You get a couple of hrs at the ruins with no crowd. With the other tours, you only get about an hr at the ruins and you are rushed.
Both Tanisha and Searious are excellent operators. Willie and Danial are superb and extremely knowlageable guides. Unfortunatly the cruise ship crowds hit at about the same time their tours arrive. The park just can't handle the large groups that the cruise tour operators bring.
Thanks, crack up. We just might do that. Sounds like it might make for a more pleasant day and a better visit to the ruins. Any idea how much it costs? 18 days and counting!!! mobunny
