Hi!! I am a first-time traveler to Belize and am going to be there for 7 days including New Year's Eve. Is there anything going on then? Is anyone else planning on traveling around that time? I would appreciate any advice, recommendations, etc. Thanks!!!

I think Ramons has a big New Years shindig.

I've been to the New Year's Eve party at Ramon's the last 3 years in a row. It's great! Kind of hard to get a drink sometimes but that can be a good thing too. And last year after Ramon's was over, we headed to Barefoot Iguana. Iguana's was having a foam party. Then we went to Jambel's, hung out there for a while and some of us finished off with dancing at Daddy's. Some of us went over to the Lion's bash. I managed to end up there just as my buds were leaving around 7 a.m. Lucky for me.

We were in San Pedro for New Year's 1999 and had friends from Texas join us. It was the best time ever! We were living a couple doors down from Ramons-where the big party is, and we just hung out on our terrace with friends coming and going. All along the beach people walked and danced to and from Ramons. GREAT MUSIC by Gilharry 7. We went down and hung out on the beach and wow what fun. All four of us Texas gringos were amazed at how friendly, happy and sane the whole evening was, partying and all! We hope to do New Year's there again for sure.

Here we go again-everybody and their dog/cat/rabbit goes to Ramons -they hand out free drinks and T shirts at midnight.I personally like the Purple Parrot, and drink there often but on New Years Eve there is only one place to go and that is Fido's - great music and you can get a drink whereas at the PP it is almost impossible and that makes for a very unhappy Pedro-I have the belief if something is free it costs to much in the long run.

If we weren't living so close to Ramon's we probably would have gone to several places. We were just being lazy homebodies (cats included ) taking advantage of our front yard party. But next time we'll definitely party hop - there's surely fun to be had elsewhere as well.

Was at Ramon's 01/03 and band was a local lots of punk rock and not a lot of oldies for maybe us older gringo crowd. Could not get near the bar or even the satalite bars on beach. Very, very lowd. Have pictures can share if interested, not of me like Lotus Flame but of crowd there. KBG

Hmm, I've been missing out, I guess. I've never been the beneficiary of any of Ramon's largesse.
At Ramon's on New Year's Eve, there are CROWDS of people and it's hard to get a drink, that's for sure. It's almost impossible to get to the facilities too. What fun I've had meeting people in the lineups.
And the party is around a beautiful pool, a large deck and spills out greatly onto the beach, etc. etc. All those things most of us don't experience on New Year's Eve in the more northern latitudes.
Of course, I don't live in San Pedro, year round like some people that post here and so I love spending a good portion of New Year's Eve at Ramon's. I believe that many many other TOURIST-types would too.
