How do people prefer to get from BZE airport to San Pedro? Looks like the hotels can set you up with a flight for $93/person RT. Is this the only option, or have people taken more "economical" routes.

After a long day of travel from Minneapolis to Belize City, I suppose the last thing you want is 2 hrs on a boat when you could do 10 min in the air, so this might not be the best time to be thrifty....

some folks take a boat, but you have to get to Belize City to do that, and the International airport is outside town.

the easiest way is to take the plane...

spend the hundred bucks and take a flight from the international airport. there are also flights from the municipal, but it's kind of a drag having to get there.

depending on budget and no. of people in party.
Prices 93usd r/t from int.
prices 47usd r/t from municipal
taxi to municipal(25min 15/17.5usd)-flights on the half hour.

Hey Jeff, we fly out of MSP also, typically early in the morning, a couple hours between flights in Texas getting into Belize City about 3:30 or so. By that time, we are more than willing to pay the fare to fly directly out. Also, we typically go in the Jan/Feb timeframe, which means that by the time we clear immigration and customs, and get checked in to tropic air, get on the flight to AC, it is fairly close to getting dark. If we humped to the other airport for a little cheaper flight, or went by boat, it would be dark by the time we got in. Better to hit cocktail time.

guess i could search and find out...but easier to ask here...

when's the last flight out of belize city to san pedro...

with air delays and such...we don't want to get stuck in belize city overnight...will try to get a flight that gets into belize as early as possible...but probably will be mid afternoon at best...

if we miss the last flight...any other option?

Jeff, flying out of municipal rather than International becomes cost effective if there are more than 3 in your group, because taking the taxi is $20 each way. Last week, our group of 4 flew in to International at 1:30pm, cleared customs, walked out the door and took the taxi and arrived at Municipal at 2:10 pm, caught the 2:30pm flight to San Pedro and were on the beach by 3 pm. Did the reverse on our way back. We netted savings of $144, but for just 2 people you would save about $54.

Thank you to everyone for the help! Sounds like a flight from the Int'l terminal will be worth it for two people. wink

Good info! Bobber, we are flying from Mpls in Janury and getting into BZE around 4 I think. Is it ever so busy that you don't get through customs quick enough and have to stay the night on the mainland? This is my big area of concern.
