Capt Pedro,

I heard that last night a Mexican Patrol boat sank outside the reef at Mexico Rocks. 4 of the approx 12 sailors made it to shore swimming.

Residents saw a fire last night in open see, today the area apparently looks like a war zone (Mexican war ship, helicopters, air planes).

The fire and war zone should be fact, the rest is still a rumour.

Can you update us to what's true and what's not?

Apparently 27 coastguard - only 4 have made it to shore-the rest are presumed drowned - it appears that the boat exploded at around 2.00am in the morning around 200 yds outside of the reef and big bang -that is all for now-updates as we get more info

What would a Mexican patrol boat be doing there?
Just curious.

Belize does not have a coastguard per say -so like with the U.S. there are various agreements in place to patrol the waters etc.

Is this for real? I didn't see any mention of it in any of the news sources in Belize...

...there was a LARGE MX Coast Guard vessel out there most all of the day searching, accompanied by at least 2 smaller MX coast guard boats, and as stated above, a chopper & small plane... pretty intensive/methodic seach, but (according to some fisherman who we spoke with 2-3 hours ago) they did not find anyone/anything yet...
