I have flown out of Houston on almost all of my international trips, have never missed a connection. When I returned from belize in August, customs was practically deserted, breezed through in about 5 minutes. It can get crowded, but as long as you give yourself more than 20 minutes between flights, you should not have a problem.

In my experiences in and out of Belize, Houston although not a piece of cake is ofter quicker in customs and security check in's than Miami. Although Houston seems to always have the connection gates as far apart as possible. No matter what you have to go through, go to Belize soon and Enjoy. :p
