My wife and I are considering a December vacation in Belize. A buddy of mine recently got dive certified on AC, and we'd like to do that, too. However, we don't want to spend all our time diving. We'd also like to tour the Mayan ruins.

Is it possible to stay on AC and do both the diving and the tours, or should we divide up the vacation?

Day and overnight trips to the ruins from AC are an every day occurance. If you are looking to spend extensive time clamoring around the ruins, then you should consider a couple days on the mainland. Most people opt for the day trips.

We have flown over to Tikal as a day trip as well as done the cave-tubing at Jaguar paw trip. It's easy to do these kind of trips from AC.

IF YOUR ARE THE INDEPENDENT TYPE, TAKE THE FLIGHT OVER TO FLORES, EARLY AM WITH TROPIC AND PICK UP A GUIDE WITH CAR FOR THE DAY AT THE AIRPORT, THIS WAY YOU WILL NOT BE ON A BUT WITH A GROUP AND CAN SEE WHAT YOU WANT AND GET BACK TO THE AIRPORT FOR A LATE DAY FLIGHT BACK TO BZE INT AIRPORT AND BACK TO SAN PEDRO FOR THE EVEING. IT IS EASILY DONE AND USUALLY CAN BE DONE CHEEPER THAN THE PACKAGE TOURS OFFERED. GO SOON KBG laugh wink :p
