Hi,

We're planning to have small wedding (15-20 persons) in July 2004, with the ceremony hopefully taking place on the beach of the hotel/resort we'd be staying. Is it worthwhile paying the hotel or an individual to organize the official wedding stuff? I read that only two official documents are necessary, about $100 each, so $500-1000 seems a lot of money to pay for the service of them getting the papers and a few perks.

Any suggestions for a good place to stay? We like the peace and quietness and a nice beach, so don't want to stay in town, and are on a budget. Does anyone have experience with either the Salamander Resort, Hotel del Rio, or Exotic Caye Beach Resort? From their websites it looks like neither has a swimming pool; can you swimm comfortably in the sea? Is it uncomfortable to sleep without an airconditioning in the middle of Summer? (Not all rooms have A/C). Other suggestions are welcome too!

Thanks!

US$100.00 only for the license. But add on your return air to Belize City, time, etc. You can certainly arrange all this yourself as long as you know which photographer to choose, can locate and book the minister, music, location, restaurant, food, flowers, liquor, etc. and find the right location for everyone to stay, where to have the ceremony and celebrations afterwards. Oh, don't forget all the time you'll spend answering all your guests questions without knowing all the right answers. You have the time and patience for all that? If so, I'd suggest you do a recce to confirm all the plans way in advance and then arrive before the wedding to make sure your instructions are being carried out. So yes, it is a very good idea to hire someone locallly to facilitate all these elements. Or buy a big bottle of anacin.

Vicki at Caribe Island Resort will do a fabulous job on a wedding for you. Research it, and let her know what you want. She'll let you know what she can do for you. The resort is AWESOME and sounds like what you are looking for. She LOVES this kind of stuff.....

Personally, it can be extremely uncomfortable sleeping in the middle of July without a/c.

Listen to Katie above... don't try it yourself!! You'll get so bogged down in the planning, I've actually known people that cancelled their wedding. You can always cut costs by adding or deleting if you want or do not want flowers, etc.

Barb-just spent the weekend in your old stomping grounds. Went to the Bear and saw a show at the theatre with Sally G. Unfortunately, Donald was on the road and Libby with him. Beautiful time of year there. 4 smoked trouts in two days..kt
