What is the baggage allowance on flights from Belize City (international airport) to San Pedro?

One web site I found says 40 pounds, the ticket jacket from the US agent for Maya Island Air from whom we bought our ticket says 70 pounds.

Is it just a weight limit?
How many pieces?

We don't travel heavy, but the fact is that carrying cameras, electronic support gear for the cameras (digital, needs batteries, chargers, ...) snorkel gear, clothes, and other necessities, even traveling light could go over a pieces or size or weight limit for a small airplane depending on the carrier's setup.

We will have one full size "Pullman" suitcase (30", under 50 pounds), one 22" "rollaboard" (40 pounds), a laptop bag, and a medium size backpack, maybe a purse.

After flying some domestic flights in Costa Rica where there was a (sometimes) enforced 25 pound baggage limit, I was wondering the same thing about flights in Belize.

While waiting for our flight to San Pedro, this is what we observed. The small planes have a metal bar hung on the rear of the plane. The passengers are loaded, then the baggage for those passengers is loaded until the bar on the plane touches the ground. Any leftover bags go on the next flight. It seemed to work. Our luggage came the flight after ours, which was only about 15 minutes.
