How hard is it to get to the Marco Gonzalez ruins? I tried to find them once and did not manage it. I understand that there has been some work done there. Can anyone give me directions, presuming that I rent a bike and head south?

I'm sure they aren't all that impressive, but I would like to get there.

Bike won't do it. To reach Marco Gonzalez, you slog through the mud/swamp on foot, in the company of a good guide who knows how to weild a machete. Be on the watch for crocs (not kidding). Wear sturdy shoes that can get muddy & wet and will protect your toes from mangrove spikes & such, Wear long pants, long sleeve shirt and lots of DEET.

My idea was and is that a bike would get me nearit. It looks as if, once a person gets to the indentation on the windward side of the area, it would be a northwest slog for about half a kilometer.

I will probably be alone this time. Does anyone have any ideas as to who could act as guide?
