2 questions for all on this board. I know these have been asked before but I can not find the answers! 1. Is it really worth the time to rent a cart and go north for a drive. Is there that much up that way (North of the cut) too see? Jungle? Bars? or is it just something more to do?
2. If it is worth the trip is there a rental place at or close to Paridise Villas? Thanks in advance for all responses and for all the regulars who answer the same questions over and over!! Can't wait to be back in paradise 31 days and counting!!!!!!!!

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

We always consider renting a cart for the day and making a trip south in the morning, looking at the houses and resorts and just sucking in the atmosphere. Pull into a few beaches and look around. Then we head north and again look at the houses and gardens and what might be called mini-jungle. See lots of iguanas and birds and stuff. Then cut back and stop at the Palapa bar. We usually do this on Sunday, and catch Dennis Wolfe at the Palapa, good show. One suggestion, try to get a gas cart. We killed a battery at the Palapa and had to wait for a replacement. No big deal but a pain in the butt. We don't consider it a waste of time.

Seashell, Does Cholos rent gas carts?
Thanks Bobber, It sounds like we missed this one last year. We enjoy looking at homes and of course beachs, animals are a passion of mine so this sounds like a good trip to do for a day. This hammock house would be a good stop before the cut? Where is this other bar you talked about?

Hammock house is just over the cut, look to the right of the landing on the other side. Sweet Basils is a good stop (about a quarter mile from the ferry), and then the Palapa bar another mile or so. All are well marked.

Palapa bar is fun, especially on Sunday Afternoons! Dennis Wolfe plays...great! You can sing along or play an instrument too. Gotta go by Capt. Morgan's, "Temptation Island", great pool at Belizean Shores and don't forget free wine tastings everyday at Rendezvous Restaurant & Winery, next door to Journey's End!!!!!!! French & Thai Food there. Roads are rough though, so be prepared. Have fun! laugh

Another reply just to confuse you - we enjoyed a long WALK north of the cut (go toward the shore where the road splits) and stopped for a drink at Capricorn's. Then we took the water taxi back to San Pedro. We also walked south of town. If you're staying somewhere close to San Pedro, you won't need a cart to get you around town - if it's you're first time, there's lots to see without a golfcart (and you frequently see things better from a strolling pace)..............it depends on your "speed"
