If you can do without a pool, I recommend the Mayan Princess. Get a room on the second or third floor. They have good security and it is very near most places that you would like to hang out in the evening (Fidos) and a good selection of restaurants. Amigos del Mar dive op, is practically in front of the hotel. They'll teach you how to dive or just take you out for snorkel trips.
You won't regret it for a second.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?
Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to put together so much information. We are planning a trip next year and everyone who shares their experiences is helping us to plan. So, thanks. The other reason I am replying is because you are from Georgia. I grew up there and my family still live there. I visit every year. I live in London England but always keep a supply of grits in my cupboard. So, just wanted to say hello (or hey y'all).
ParrotTech, another place that you might really enjoy is the Blue Tang. If you got a room on the second or third floor, front. Good location, not that far from the places you'd be comfortable hanging out. It has a little pool and a nice deck area.

Keith, Great report. I just got a chance to read it. We got back late Sunday night the 28th. We had a great time and was nice to walk in some of your paths. Our last night we stayed in room b327, the best room at banana beach, I beleive. Jean and I enjoyed your company and our time around the pool. Your photos are great. What fun to see where we have just been. De javu all over again. We had a good time with Obie and Becky hanging out. Met Dave (hotsauze) nice young man. Later Danny
