Hi, All! My husband and I are going to AC for the first time in late August with another couple. We're thinking about staying at Banyan Bay and I'd like to know if anyone can answer some of my questions, such as . . . Can you book a dive from the resort? Deep sea fishing? Snorkeling? How is the beach? It's my understanding that the beaches aren't great for swimming. True? Also, how is the bar at the resort? Drinks poolside?? Any info would be hugely appreciated!

Banyan Bay is terrific. Big pool. Beautifully furnished and well-maintained two-bedroom units. You can book just about anything and be picked up at the hotel. The Mar de Tumbo beach at Banyan Bay is one of the best on the island. It's not like, say, the beaches on Anguilla but not bad. The restaurant and bar at Banyan Bay, Rico's, operated separately, perhaps isn't the best on the island, but it's fine, and it has a fabulous setting on the water.

Lans right. We stayed at Banyan Bay last August. It was fabulous. No one waiting on you at pool side though, but the pool is right by Rico's (and Rico's bar) on the beach. Great Rum punch (and you can charge it to your room).

Ditto to Lan about the beach, probably the nicest on an Island that is not known for it's beaches.
We stopped there & jumped in one day to cool off after bike riding. A beautiful looking place. It is also not far from town, about one & half miles.

We may stay there next time, as it is affiliated with RCI.We have time share in Cozumel & could trade.

Have fun
