To celebrate our fifth anniversary we'll be at Banana Beach from June 9 - 16. Finding and reading all the wonderful information on this board has been great.

Since we are first timers there are some questions:
1.Should we bring beach towels or does BB provide?
2.Does BB provide the little bath amenities like soap, etc? I only ask because we have experienced no amenities in some locations.
3.We plan to do at least two snorkel trips and a trip to the mainland. The Lamanai tour looks great. Is it? Sneaks or Tevas for this?
4.Our stay gives us six full days to experience AC. Is that enough? Should we extend, or should we plan a longer trip next time?
5.The bug spray, hats and sun block are already packed. Anything else to consider?
6.Do the snorkel excursions provide flotation belts or vests? My wife is the swimmer. I am the floater

You all are great. Thanks. We are really looking forward to this trip and maybe meeting some of you.

you can get beach towels for your stay in the monkey business shop at BB...you sign them out...only pay if you lose them!

they have little bars of soap in the bathrooms...that's it.

6 days is NOT long enough! you'll want to stay forever! we did 10 days...barely long enough for a vacation...but any time is better than none!

i believe all the snorkel trips will have life vests/belts...i brought my own inflatable...much more comfortable...

have a great time! no doubts!

My husband and I will also be celebrating our 5th anniversary in Ambergris Caye from June 13-19. After reading the message board every day and doing a lot of research, we decided to stay at Victoria House. Maybe we will cross paths during the couple of days that our trips overlap so that we can have a cocktail together. As far as your questions, I am sure that the boarders will be able to help you.

Regarding Lamani, everyone on our tour wore sneakers or low cut hiking boots. Some of the paths were rocky and if you want to climb up to the top of the ruins, sneakers might work better than Teva's. Be sure to bring binoculars so you can see the monkeys and birds that your tour guide points out.

6 days is definately not long enough to see Belize and AC. I stayed on AC, but wish I had more time on the mainland. Next time I will stay on the mainland for the first few days of the trip for a chance to see more of the wildlife and rain forest.

I am not a strong swimmer, so I told the guide this. He tied an orange life vest around my waist and this worked out perfectly!

Enjoy your trip!

3] Tevas are fine--don't bring sneakers just for this excursion. Tanisha tours was great.
4] If you can really stay longer, do it now. You will not regret .
5] I like my money in $20 bills--easier to spend on small stuff--often change can be a hassle.
6] Yes, they should have floaties.
A small flashlight is key, as a matter of fact, it makes a good keychain--at any outdoor store or Kmart

And don't forget the sunscreen...pack lots. We had 3-8oz spray bottles for 4 of us & went through it quickly having to buy more which is twice as much in AC!!

We also stayed at BB...just got back 10 days ago, and we loved it there!! We were fortunate enough to have 13 days...you can do it in 6 but may find yourselves cramming alot in to do it all...13 days allowed us to do it at a slower pace so we could thouroughly enjoy it....either way it goes to fast!!!....Goody

Thanks to all!
Now I want to know why the calendar seems to be moving so slowly..

knotborde: Our anniversary is the 12th, but we are also celebrating a birthday on the 14th. A cocktail or two will definitely be in order.
