Going to AC the middle of July - 1st time. Looking at Ramons, want to stay close enough to town for nights out. Looking for some privacy and tropical atmosphere (romance). Both are AOW divers - are we better off getting a "dive package" or making arrangements once on AC? Trip is a surprise for hubby's birthday - want to make it truly memorable! Any tips on places to stay and dive operators??????? confused

Didn't want you to think that you were being ignored but can't help you much with either. My husband and I just got back last week, but we stayed north of the cut. Plus we don't dive, BUT I did do a wicked good belly-flop onto the bed last night, perfect form!

I did a search (upper right hand corner) and this one looks helpful re: "where to" Enjoy!

Where to stay thread

IF YOU GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE AND GO TO AMBERGRIS CAYE. COM-THEN LODGING-YOU CAN PULL UP ALL(OR MOST) OF THE PLACES TO STAY AND LOOK AT ALL THE PACKAGES THEY OFFER. YOU CAN ALSO PULL UP MAPS OF THE ISLAND AND WHERE THE HOTELS ECT. ARE LOCATED IN RELATION TO SP. BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH. THIS WAS A GREAT HELP TO US IN PLANNING OUR MID JULY TRIP. GOOD LUCK

They have both types of packages. I didve but from what I hear it is about the same $$ to just do it when you get there unless you do it EVERY day. What if weather sucks....you still gonna pay.

Exactly - best to book the diving when you get there. Amigos del Mar usually gets the best reviews for diving operators but there are many good ones.

Thanks all for the input, keep em comming. We will book diving when we get there. Any tips on party places in town? Are any board members going to be in AC during July? We will be there July 15-22. Any chance whale sharks will still be there? Full moon looks to be July 17. I just know we will love the island and have heard great things about the people and diving. Do they do a lot of partying and is it safe to let go and party down?

You might like to check out WWW.belizeislansvacations.com
The web site has lots of information and pictures. You can call the toll free number and the woman that answers is a wealth of information and very friendly (her family has lived in AC for years). We have booked two trips through her and everything went perfect!

Thanks for the web info now I am really confused.(lol)Are there any areas of SP we should avoid? I haven't seen any posts or info on problem areas (ie. crime) for tourists, any info would be a help. We like to dance some and listen to live music we have read some reviews on different bars that sound way cool. Does anyone have suggestions on schedule of night time activities? Also read something about a festival that might be happening around the July time frame.

Not really, San Pedro is pretty much like home or any other destination. Leave the good stuff at home. The one thing people fail to take into account is AC or the mainland for that fact... is not the place for flashy jewlery, diamonds, etc. No one cares what you're wearing. Honest, they don't... you won't be impressing anyone except those with theft on their minds.
