All of this talk about mosquitos is sort of freaking me out. I thought that being right on the coast there would be a breeze which would keep them away. We're staying at Villas at Banyan Bay in late August. Will mosquitos be an issue there??

On an unrelated subject, will I be able to buy Diet Pepsi on the island?

We were just there and we didn't think the bugs were bad at all. A few bugs here and there but nothing that a little bug spray wouldn't keep away. We each got a few bites but nothing too crazy. As far as Diet Pepsi--I am thinking I mostly saw Diet Coke but I could be wrong?

it is worse up north, you will be south of it. the year we went north, it rained then the wind died. just like that. usually there is a breeze, but nature does what she wants. i would pack bugspray & benedryl cream anyway. can't hurt.

i recommend you try the local limeade. it's yummy. uh, for drinking, not bugs!

I will be in AC in August too and it will depend on the weather as far as bugs. Out of several times I have been there, only one time (in late November) did I notice mosquitos.

We were there in Feb....we saw one Pepsi truck, so there is now some on the island but you may have to look. Coke and Diet Coke are everywhere however. I wouldn't expect to see misquitoes around Banyan Bay, but you may find some in the evenings when you get away from the beach breezes elsewhere on the island.

It's rare to be bothered by mosquitoes if you're on or near the water and the wind is blowing, which it is most of the time (though there are calm spells in the summer.) The mozzies can't fly in the breeze.

I've stayed at Banyan Bay (great place) and I don't think I ever saw a mosquito there.

Pepsi has always had a difficult time in Belize. The Coca-Cola bottler also owns Belikin, is one of the wealthiest people in the country and both Coke and Belikin are essentially monopolies in Belize.
