Okay everyone your opinion is very important on this one. Here goes - My husband is a die hard Bud Man and can't be convinced that he will be just as happy with Belikin when we get there in July. Can you share your voice of experince with him so he will stop trying to put a case of Bud in my suitcase Which is it BUD :p or BELIKIN
Time flys - have fun!

a little beer 101, if the desire is to arrive with skunked beer, then pack it. Otherwise I wouldn't advise packing the beer since it will be exposed to radiation at security checks. When the beer is exposed in this manner for a period of time, the hop-derived molecules, called isohumulones, are basically ripped apart. Some of these parts bind with sulfur atoms to create that "skunk" character, which is similar in character to a skunk's natural defense and is such a potent compound that parts-per-trillion can be detected and even ruin a beer. Although brown bottles aid in protecting beer from being light-struck, it hardly makes the beer invincible. Green or clear bottles provide little to no protection. I'd take a walk on the wild side and go with the local brew, Belikin.

Try the Belikin. You can get Bud on the island in the stores if he so chooses, no need to pack it.

They have Bud on AC, if you want to pay the price. Your husband may not like belikin, not everyone does. I didn't care for my first bottle of belikin, but that was many years and many bottles ago. I wouldn't think of drinking anything else while in Belize.

I was introduced to a Michellata (sp?) while on AC and then couldn't drink anything else. I've tried to duplicate it here at home, but without the Belikin, its just not the same.

From another post I did:
Low carbs in Belize? You have a few choices on beer: Belikin, Belikin stout, Belikin premium, Belikin draft, Lighthouse(light hahaha),Heineken, Guiness, & MGD(certain bars & stores only). Some places had Budweiser signs but none to be found. The lightest beer that you did not have to chew through was the Belikin draft(on tap) not many places serve it.
Belikin is $1.50-2.00 at stores per bottle. My big beef with Belikin is the bottles are SOOO thick that you always think you have 1/2 a beer when in reality it is empty. When you pour one into a cup it is about 8-9 ounces, not 12.
My friend is a Mich Ultra fan so we searched ALL of AC and CC and found NO Budweiser products. There were some places with wine coolers and Smirnoff stuff but NO Bud anywhere. MGD is only in nips and tastes like some nasty skunked stuff(Same in the states). If he is a diehard Bud fan....bring it!

I have never heard of x-rays causing skunking, but I suppose it could be possible since it is a type of radiation.
A common misnomer is that heat causes skunking, but sunlight is actually the main enemy. It depends on the beer and the bottle color, but skunking can occur in only a few minutes if the beer is left in direct sunlight. Beer in clear bottles is not really practical, but marketing sometimes wins over engineering.

If I had to make a list of the things I would never take to AC, beer and my mother-in-law would be tied for first. Belikin forever
Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt
