Meeting Paisano over 10 years ago while I was a business Manager on the beach was an unforgiving time of running him away from nabbing fresh duds off of locals clothes lines, and then preventing him from stealing tourist's drinks and sandwiches off of their un-watched tables.
My most recent trip 2 months ago was highlighted by a very humble old man playing a plastic air guitar with myself and the band, while copping a groove to Pedro's unrelenting requests of songs by the Monkey's. Uncle P had his groove on and proved to be a true historic musical gem in the Caye of A.

Hi Bearfoot: Caught your act just before returning stateside...and enjoyed it very much. I remember Paisano went he was a "very" angry fellow...but the years have mellowed him, thank God. Take care: Bill

My best Paisano moment was last year's trip to AC in May. The first person I saw as I stepped off the plane on AC was Paisano. I yelled hello and he was quite talkative. Much more than the grunt I usually get. I figured that was a sign of good things to come.

We saw Paisano at Fido's a couple of weeks ago playing guitar with the guitar case. He was having a great time and so were the patrons. My husband took a picture of me and Paisano as he was playing his "guitar". Within moments, Paisano was asking for money for having taken the picture with me. Of course, I was surprised at first, but my husband obliged with a hefty tip.

and any thread about Paisano is not complete without a conch shell story - I bet thid one has happened more than once!

One day, while enjoying many many Belikins & Panty Rippers at Legends, I saw Paula, the owner, purchase one of his shells (who the hell knows why ). She took it home that night, placed it on her balcony, 3rd floor apt next to Cholo's. Next AM, she gets up, shell is gone. Paisano returns later that day and tries to sell her the same shell all over again. laugh

My best of Paisano story was at the Holiday Hotel bar. Paisano and Celi have always had a "strained" relationship based upon Paisano taking the hotels towels while drying. Anyway...a strong silent type bartender was tending bar on a busy Friday happy hour when in comes Paisano right through the front door carrying a big old Barraccuda Head in the air. Paisano yelled out "Barracuda Head" repeatedly as he walked through the lobby and out the back door. The tough guy bartender as so staggered...he couldn't even respond. Just too much violation!!!!!

While in SP in May this year, I was told by a
resident that Paisano was a wealthy man at one
time and had owned quite a bit of property there. Is this true?

My first Paisano experience was one of my first SP experiences (within 24 hours of my first stay ever). He came up to me outside of a store and asked for a quarter. So I gave it to him.

Pretty much a non-event . . . but then again. . . I hadn't yet realized he was famous.

First encountered Paisano in Sandals about 10 years ago. I initially refused his "request" for money, and he threw a tantrum that would have made a 2 year old proud. Gave him a little $$$ and he was happy. He's definitely slowed down a bit since then.
