Has anyone stayed at the Costa Maya Reef Resort? Where on the island is it located? Thanks.

Haven't stayed there, but Costa Maya is 6 (count 'em) miles north of San Pedro. You'll have to decide what you want from your vacation when you select your lodging.

You'll probably learn the most, the fastest about lodging on Ambergris by clicking on the "lodging" link at the top of this web site. It will bring up a great map of the area with hyperlinks to many of the properties' websites. We did our first information gathering that way and it was a lot of fun leaning about the numerous availabilities. You can also do a topic searh to find what has already been written about lodging, dining and tours.

Thanks Skyliner. I am still learning how to navigate on this board. Your response was quite helpful.

We stayed at Banana Beach and rented a golf cart for one day and went North. The north of the island is very secluded. I liked being south of town, far enough away so it was quite but close enough for a nice leisurely walk into town. As mentioned above it depends on what you want in your vacation. If you want seclusion, stay north and get a golf cart becuase there is nothing much around (however the Palapa bar is fun). If you want a little action stay south and if you want to be in the middle of everything, stay in town. No matter where you stay HAVE FUN!!!

Try the Exotic Caye Beach Resort @ www.belizeisfun.com. About a 10 minute walk into town, nice beach area, great beach bar called Crazy Canucks, above ground pool. You can also email Kat @ [email protected]. She has a one bedroom condo at the resort that she rents out and she gives an awesome price.

Depending on what you want out of your vacation, I would agree with Rulrich. If you want seclusion, stay north of the cut. If you want more excitement, stay south.

Email me @ [email protected] if you want to know more about the Exotic Caye. I stayed there in May. Will be staying there again in September and already booking my stays in 2005.
