i was one of the for guys that stayed with sari at the boatyard. we were
lucky to have such a good group of people to help each other cope with the
fear the keith brought us. sari is doing fine - as SOON as the hurricane
ended she was outside giving orders and pulling people together to try and
get the mess that was once the beautiful boatyard cleaned up. smokehouse
george is also doing ok, even though the smokehouse itself is history. the
boatyard bar as losts it's nice palapa rood and there are about 4 boats now
parked right inside of the bar. nearly ALL of the boats parked at the
boatyard have sustained some sort of damage, the only one with little damage
was the journey's end boat, which ended up on the runway somehow. the house
itself needs some serious repairs - 2 of the supports were destroyed by
boats crashing into them and the whole wall upstaurs started to give in and
will need replacing. many of the windows in the house are also broken. the
docks are completely gone, they now are resting on the gound in front of the
house. i think all but 1 of the island ferry boats are completely destroyed.
they were able to get one of them working so that sari was able to get back
to the house up north (which i have heard is OK). i have many pictures of
the damage done at the boatyard and i will email them to you ASAP.
i have also been speaking with angel, libby and her husband james and they
and their houses are all ok.
keep sending those prayers out to the people of san pedro and caye caulker -
they need them.
sincerely,
mike
