(If posts like this are not allowed, I apologize, but since Belize is part of the Caribbean, I hope this will be OK.)

The Caribbean island of Grenada has been devastated by Hurricane Ivan. Reports are that 80% of homes have suffered some damage.
Electricity and Telephone are out and roads are badly damaged or washed away. The Hospital has also been damaged, the Emergency Operation Center Building destroyed, and the Nutmeg crop which is a major income earner for Grenada has been flattened. Each report brings worse news.

If anyone can find it in their hearts, any material or monetary donations are badly needed.

The Consulate General of Grenada has set up a disaster relief fund for monetary donations.
These should be sent to Bank of America, Account # 005-472370974. ABA code
for all wires and transfers is: 063100277. The Account name is the Grenada Cultural and Civic Association (GCCA) Disaster Relief Fund.

Key contacts are as follows:
Bulah Alexander: 305-335-7626
Kenneth Nedd : 305-528-9465
Consulate: 305-913-7555

Materials needed are:
Cots, tents, beds and mattresses
Building materials
Non Perishable foods
Water, water treatment and purification equipment
Transportation of goods to Grenada
Power tools
Medical supplies, equipment and personnel
Security assistance and communications equipment

They have arranged 3 staging areas to date. They are as follows:

1. City of Lauderdale Lakes, Muiti-Purpose Building, 4340 NW 36th Street,
Lauderdale Lakes Contact (See Below)

2. AMCAR Freight, 7850 NW 80th Street #2, Medley, FL 33166, Contact
Bob Diamond (305) 599-8866. www.amcarfreight.com

3. AMCAR Freight, Choice Container Lines, 445 Wilson Avenue,
Newark, NJ. 07105 - Contact Bob Diamond (305) 599-8866

For New Yorkers who wants to offer any kind of help, they can carry any donations of anything to Square Deal shippers at Church Avenue and East 45th Street Brooklyn, in care of GM shipping

In Toronto, for those who want to send items to Grenada, Arlene Taylor is organizing a shipment of a container. E-mail: arlktaylor@yahoo.com

You can also donate to the Red Cross
- stipulate that your money be sent to Grenada

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The devastation on Grenada breaks my heart. We visited this past January. It was a very beautiful island. My heart goes out to all those people. It looks like a very very long road to recovery. Jean
