I'm lucky enough to be heading to AC in 2 weeks. This is my first adventure to this particular paradise. I've been checking the weather and it looks like warmth and rain. Trying to figure out what to pack aside from a large smile. Would someone be so kind as to give me an idea of the weather on an average October day...and eve? Thanks!!!

A lightweight waterproof windbreaker, long sleeves and hood.
Lightweight long pants, and long sleeves, and something to cover your feet (for bug bite protection during "happy hour" for bugs).
DEET.

I think she has been at the belekins...

I am going in February, never been at that time of year. Do I REALLY need long sleeves? And should I borrow a wet-suit to keep me toasty while snorkeling?

dreaminzfree the best advice I can give you is take half of what you think you need. There is no need to take any dressy things as everywhere you go will be very very casual. Lots of shorts and T-shirts should do the trick and I wore flip-flops everywhere. On our most recent trip, my hubby took his shoes off after landing at the SP airstrip and didn't put them back on until we left to go back home. That should give you an idea of how laid back everything is.

Have a Great time!!! And if you want to, visit the SAGA society there in SP. They are good people trying to help the animals there on the island. Go to http://ambergriscaye.com/sagasociety/index.html if you want to check them out.

Take a light sweater or something, dreaminzfree. I've had a few times when I was glad for that and other times when it just lanquished in my suitcase. I'd rather have and not need, than the other way around.

Hey, immissing . . .let me get a look at your eyes. ;\)

Oops, my advice was for Malibu who plans to be there in Feb. Dreaminzfree might be better off taking an umbrella and/or a light waterproof jacket and plenty of DEET.

And Malibu, I don't know how much snorkelling you intend to do but a shorty can make it quite a bit more comfortable, in any event.

By a shorty do you mean the type of dive suit that has cut-off or short pant legs, like shorts? This is the type of outfit that I am being urged to borrow from my good friend here.

Thank You for the help! Don't want to freeze while enjoying my favorite past time. OH, one more - this friend insists she has a mask that does not leak. I know this has been a topic before but do you think this is possible? ALL the ones I have used have leaked. I am hoping....

Oooooh. Borrowing a wetsuit, eh?

Be careful, and wash it thoroughly before you use it. There are only two kinds of divers, you know. :p

And yes, there are enough masks out there that, if you try them on, you can find one that fits without leaking.

Toolguy and dreaminzfree - we're off to the mountains and no computer for the weekend, but I'll e-mail you from home next week and we'll try to set up a time to get together if we'd all like to. Aeriel, if you update your profile with your e-mail, I'll add you to the list. We would like to go fishing, diving, snorkeling, beach bbq..... but sometimes just 2 people makes it a little difficult. Nice to have a few plans - not too many, this is a vacation! and a honeymoon for some. Congrats!

For Malibu - go to a dive shop - they can fit you with a mask, and it's worth the extra money to get a good one.

catmot help me out here. Sounds dangerous to borrow a wet suit. Are you making a funny? Never wore a wet suit before so I am sincere in asking.....

I might as well go ahead and ask how much does a wet suit cost? A "shorty" I guess and maybe catmot you know what a shorty is? Seashell, as you may have noticed, has been defending herself elsewhere.....

Thank You

Catmot meant that there are only two types of divers . . those that pee in their wetsuits and those that don't. And yes, I meant a shorty. You'll be more comfortable in the water with it. Not only will it keep you warmer but it gives you a bit more bouyancy too, if you've any concerns in that regard.

As for a mask that doesn't leak, yes they exist. I have two. I also have two that do. \:\) In any event, your friend's mask may not leak on her, but it could still leak on you. Masks have slightly different shapes and so do faces. If she's willing to loan you her stuff, might as well try it out. Oh, and rinse her suit well before returning it. hee hee

And . . .was I defending myself? I try never to defend myself . . . dissent maybe, but defend. Hmm \:\( Gonna have to watch that.

Thank you for the exp... I was actually just talking to somebody about the mask situation. I said that it seems my mask always leeks in this one spot. The party I was talking to said it must be that dent in your head!!! Surprise Surprise Lo and behold - I do have an indent on the right side of my brow exactly where the masks always leek!!! Whoda thunk? I do not look deformed if that is what you are thinking. Just a little - well a dent. Strange huh>

Well, the way I know it is that there are two kinds of divers...those that pee in their wetsuits and those that lie about it. \:D

But don't let that stop you from renting one. It's a drag to get cold.

For Aeriel, Tool Guy, and Dreaminzfree - it looks like the common days we'll all be at BB will be the 19 and 20. Anybody have any time or place preference - the bar or pool is ok with us - we have no set plans yet.
