Staying at Case de Lisa in February . . . with dock. Would like to fish from dock . . . can anyone offer suggestions re fishing tackle etc. Prefer ultralight spinning with rubber jig head baits . . . also 9' 9 weight fly rod or 8' 5 weight fly rod. Never been to AC before. Any advice? Thank you.

Small pink white or light brown shrimp imitations...The locals use small sardines or shrimp...I use 4or6 pound mono with light spinning gear...my wife uses an ultralight

If you can, take both flyrods. The 5wt will work for bonefish,snappers,shellfish etc.. Keep the 9wt. handy for a cruising barracuda or feeding school of jacks, or if the wind kicks up.

I stayed at Casa De Lisa last May. We fished everyday off the dock. If you want snappers just use a hook with Sardines. We used Mister Twister jigs in pink and white and caught Bones. Also, you can use your fly rod with small shrimp imitations. We caught bones, permit everyday. If you want Barracuda you MUST take wire leader with you.

Using twister jigs off the dock with ultra light spinning gear . . . any recommendations what size jig head and what size twister bait? If using frozen sardines, how do you rig your bait?

I belive the jigs were 1/8th ounce. The smaller the better, the bone fish have a small mouth. When using frozen sardines cut them into thirds. Just make sure you have really good sharp hooks and you will catch fish. It was VERY easy to catch them. We say many locals using line held in their hands with a hook and small sinker. I know you can catch fish on a pole if they catch them.

I have some more questions about fishing off of the dock at Casa de Lisa, is it a sandy bottom or a grassy bottom? And if both, how was the fishing in both conditions? Do you fish deep? Slow or fast retrieve? Thank you.

It is both sandy and grassy. But, you will "see" the school of bone fish. Just cast into the and retrieve it back. As far as catching Snapper just cast out and wait for a bite. Make sure you take good Polorized fishing glasses. We walked into schools of bone fish that had to be over 1000 fish.
