Greetings Wine Club Members

Wines of the Month

This month we will feature the new Georges Duboeuf Réserve wines in really cool bottles! You will want to buy one just for the bottle - bright colors and designs that are truly tropical. Here's a little info.

With annual sales of 30 million bottles, Georges Duboeuf is one of France's largest and best-known French wine merchants. The company was founded in 1964 by Georges Duboeuf, the son of a wine-grower. Its policy - tradition and quality - has met with spectacular success built upon its Beaujolais, Maconnais and Rhone Valley wines.

Today, Vins Georges Duboeuf continues to balance respect for tradition and commercial growth with its expanded regional offering of a wide range that includes fine wines from the Beaujolais to the Pays d'Oc, Ardeche and Jardin de la France.

Located South of Burgundy proper, between Mâcon and Lyon, Beaujolais is a prosperous region. Cultivating almost 55,000 acres, more than the other three departments of Burgundy combined, it produces an average of 13 million cases annually. This 34-mile strip along the Sane River, comprises the 4th department, Rhne, of the Burgundy region. Beaujolais is diverse geographically, but it is unified by the Gamay Noir grape. Ninety-eight percent of the area is planted with it. The other 2% is basically planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Beaujolais is comprised of 12 appellations and is divided into Haut- and Bas-Beaujolais. This division is based on distinctions in the soil of each area.

At the Wine Dinner we will be tasting a Beaujolais and also two Varietal Réserves, the Chardonnay and the Syrah. We also have in the Shoppe the Merlot Réserve, in an equally fabulous bottle and with equally great taste. You will want to try them all!

Several of you have sent me this, but for those who haven't heard

A new wine for seniors

California vintners in the Napa Valley area, which primarily produces Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines, have developed a new hybrid grape that acts as an anti-diuretic. It is expected to reduce the number of trips older people have to make to the bathroom during the night.

The new wine will be marketed as Pino More

Remember, we have wines open for tasting everyday. We just received a new shipment from France and Germany with some really great wines. So stop by soon!

As always, thanks for your time. Enjoy your wine !!
