First time in Belize....how much money should I bring for the stay? We will have the room paid for already. We'll be eating, drinking a little, and diving for at least 3 days. Are the restuarants expensive (we prefer good food, not atmosphere!!) Are there souveniers, and if so, are they costly? Gotta plan ahead and need any info y'all can send.

Check with your hotel on the price of dive trips. They should have that information. They are not cheap. Food prices are about the same as home. You can eat expensive or not... the food is all great. Drinking is expensive unless you drink beer, and you will learn to like Belikin. Go to Estel's for breakfast - eat Mayan Eggs (not really what it is) but it's local color and wonderful. They serve it with a huge flower tortilla. YUMMM. Go parasailing with Tony - about $100/person (last time I checked) but well worth it. The view is spectacular (take your camera)!!! Your pictures are your best souvenirs. Have a wonderful time!!

You can go three ways, 1- cheep US$50.00 per day, if you don't drink and eat from street vendors. 2- if you want diving/fishing, add $US250.00/ $300.00 per day, per person. 3- go the way I go, US$500.00 per day. I love it !

My Daily Budget for San Pedro:

Breakfast - $25.00 ( a few bloody marys )

Mid morning snack - $30.00 (Belikins)

Lunch at Casa Picasso - $75.00 ( good martinis)

Afternoon snack at Wandas - $1.50 (pork rinds)

Happy Hour at BCs with friends - $275.00 (good friends)

A bottle of good whisky from the depot - $50.00

Boat to Capricorn - $25.00

Dinner at Capricorn - $20.00 ( 2 Chivas and water)

I am trying to cut back on the budget so I think I'll skip the pork rinds. smile
