Have visited many countries . . . tipping cultures vary considerably . . . what is traditional tipping protocol on AC . . . restaurants, taxis, water taxis, fishing guides, etc.?

Just like you would tip in the US.

Money is the easiest to carry and we have handed it directly to each peron that has served us. We want to be sure they received it.

Smiles are rewarding to us.

I have heard that tipping on AC is generally 10%, half of what I usually tip here in the states..... now I'm wondering too....

if you use the search function you will find that this topic has been covered many times and most likely will answer any questions you have about tipping while on AC

I rememeber one night, after a few too many libations, I paid a dinner bill in $US instead of $BZ AND added a hefty tip.....of course I didn't realize that until the next AM laugh BUT - we did get even more excellent service when we returned a few days later wink

tip like you would tip in the states , if they treat you right hook them up.. .but if service is not good ,do what you would in states ,tell them what a tip is for...but I tip 15 to 20 percent% closer to%20 they could use the money and they count on tourist bucks.and all checks are belize dollars ,at least all places in town ..

Tip for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Tip for the taxi ride.

Tip the bartender.
Tip for the snorkeling/diving/fishing excursions.

Did I forget anything/anyone?

We tipped the kids that let us take their pictures! We stayed at Mayan Princess and they add a 10 per cent service charge, we tipped them. I agree, tip, tip, tip!

TIPS....To Insure Prompt Service....if you just get the basic service, no follow up, etc....just leave the basic tip, 10%...but, if someone goes out of their way, and makes your day trip, dining experience, whatever the case may be....tip accordingly....most belizeans do not tip, so the workers depend on the tourists to make ends meet....so go out of your way by kicking them down a little extra....in my experience the best tippers, have had to rely on tips for their livlihood, and the worst never have....take care....kerry
