HI-we will be flying in to belize city and staying at the Belizian shores resort what is better take a boat or fly to the island? how long does each one take and do you need a reservation in advance or can you just show up and purchase a ticket? how much are the tickets for. Thanks Jeff

you can fly from belize city to AC via maya air or tropic air and it is $97 round trip and about a 15 minute flight. you can also take a water taxi out to AC but you will need to take a taxi from the airport out to the water taxi and that costs about $20 and the water taxi costs around $20 - $40 I believe. If you take the water taxi then you gamble with getting sea sick, perhaps rain, and rough seas. It is probably better to fly and would only cost about $20 more as opposed to taking a cab to the water taxi and then the water taxi out to AC.

jfabes is right - the water taxi could be sorta rough. And it tends to be a pretty tight fit with all the people/luggage aboard. It was nice to have the experience (we had smooth water and perfect weather...and grabbed a couple Belekins before we got on the boat!), but we decided to take the flight back. It's MUCH shorter. If you're interested in the water taxi, then definitely go for it, for the experience, but maybe plan on flying back...it's quick, cheap, and convenient!

We just returned from 15 days in San Pedro. Took Tropic Air flight, 15-20 minutes and was beautiful. We always want to get to the island as quickly as possible, water taxi takes toooooo long.
Try the flight and enjoy!! The scenery is gorgeous.
