Is it a bad idea to go cave tubing (will all appropriate safety gear) if one cannot swim?

Any one done this?

Best wishes,

Michael

the one I did seemed fairly shallow water, but then, I never got out of the tube. More of a concern if it is a child, I would think. Alot depends on what time of year you go. I know a few places cancel if the water is too fast & high. It was just a nice, lazy float when I did it. I would email the tour operators (tanisha, searious, etc.), and ask them.

I think it is foolish to indulge in any watersport if you can't swim, and criminally irresponsible to take a non-swimming child. Use the time and money this trip would have cost to learn to swim, so that next time you can enjoy it in safety.

Sorry to be so blunt, but I know of people drowned in shallow water in similar circumstances. Everyone always thinks it won't happen to them. I'm afraid sometimes it does.

It's ok to ask for a life jacket or take one along for use other places.

Go and enjoy smile

Use life jacket if non swimmer or poor swimmer, if one falls into the water, they freak. even in shallow water.

YES, get swimming lessons.

I never asked, but could you tie those tubes together? Email and ask that question.
Perhaps it's doable.
I know they run fast but the guides are generally cautious too.

Ya know, I am a swimmer so I don't know what it's like for someone with fear. If afraid and don't want lessons don't go on that particular trip.
