Hi all,
I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble at Caribe Island, It sounds like a mess.

I had been in contact with Vicki and had a date held for us at the end of June for our wedding on their beach. Now we are back to ground zero. We want a simple wedding on a pretty stretch of beach. Any thoughts? Updates on Caribbean Villas? What about Banana Beach?

We got engaged down there last summer at Woody's, but they just don't have a nice beach or good spot for a ceremony.

Any and all input gratefully accepted!

KLC,
Is Mar de Tumbo a public beach? OR is there a hotel associated with it? We didn't get very far south when we were down last summer.

Coconutlady, Thanks for the link, that seems like a good possiblity!! Thanks for the input.

Still looking for feedback on Caribbean Villas, most stuff that comes up on the board is old, so current condition on the condos would be helpful.

Thanks to all for helping get my dream of an AC wedding back on track!

Public (actually all are ) - Banyan Bay/Banana Beach area

Much as I like Banana Beach, me thinsk their grounds too tight for a wedding. But that wonderful beach only a few steps away.....

We did a delivery of provisions to Caribbean Villas a few weeks ago and I found the rooms to be nice and clean and the staff to be very helpful.

I frequently walk dogs along that stretch (poop and scoop, don't worry) and the beach is wide open and clean.

Personally I think it might fit your requirements well. It's close enough to town to make it easy for a larger group to head in together and the beach is large, quiet and private (no seawall).

Simon,
Thanks both for the great info, and for being a responsible dog owner laugh

We really enjoyed our stay at Exotic Caye and thought the beach was beautiful there - it is swept every morning smile And apparently there is a really nice honeymoon suite there?

Here are some pics (hopefully):

Coreen:

The good news in all of this is twofold:
1. There are lots of beautiful places in Ambergris Caye at which to have a wedding; and
2. June is not the highest season, so you still have a fighting chance at reservations (someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong).

Remember this, too: you can have your wedding done independent of wherever you're staying--there are planners on the island. My friends got married at Victoria House (where they were staying), but I believe a lot of it was planned by an outside planner.

Don't panic: your wedding will go great.
