three weeks ago we were soaking up the sun in heaven that is AC. flying from london its a long way but boy was it worth it!!! any one heading off to heaven here are our tips for a perfect trip. 1 if you are staying north of the river cut (we were at captain morgans retreat) make the trip to paulys pizza at the essene way resort, next door to captain morgans. you will never in your life have a better pizza than paulys garlic shrimp HEAVEN. the resort is worth a visit at night for its wierd ambience but also just to hang out with wayne and pauly with a belikan or two whilst your dinner cooks, fab. we stayed for 14 nights and ate there for 4 thats sqaying something!!

2 for the best day trip on a catamaran book with the rubio brothers, stephen and russell, who have a fantastic boat and will give you the best day out ever. we will never forget the day we spent with them snorkeling with the sharks and being treated to a locals view of caye caulkner. totally brilliant. the sunset cruise back to captain ms was lovely. find them at the spendrift dock in town or e them at [email protected] trust me you will have a great day.
unity tours!!

3 get a bike and cycle all over the island from the posh resorts of victoria house, if you are near here make sure you go to the place where you can feed the crocs with chickens!! take a back road where ever you can and get e real feel for the island. if you are near the popular bakery in san pedro cant miss it very tall building, head behind it to a lagoon with the mini blue hole worth it to see snapper inland and to meet christopher columbus its all abit delapidated but i liked it. take the hand pull ferry over to the north beware of the mud traps on back road but enjoy the totally different feel of this part of the island stop of at palapas bars for an alcholic smoothie LOVELY then stop at captain morgans for another drink no doubt served by charles the laid back barman. from here you can cycle up the beach to mata chica portofino etc.

4 take a boat trip inland we went to lamania excellent day out well fuelled by rum punch!! here youwill see howler monkeys, crocs, and excellent mayan ruins plus have a thrilling speed boat trip through the mangrove swamps.

5 buy some belizian art orlandos paintings are stunning and when you get home will really remind you of your trip to paradise

we have been to many places but ambergrise caye stole our hearts if you are heading out be prepared for heaven. want any tips let us know especially if you are going from the uk. bye for now dilster x

Hey Dilster, How long of a trip is it from London? Was it direct or did you have a stop?

It's hard being away from AC, huh?

Hi Dilster
We too are from the U.K. and are due to fly to Ambergris on Dec 30th arriving on New years eve
Someone asked about flight times well from Manchester to New york is 8 hours we then have an overnight stop before a 3 hour flight to Houston and on to Belize.

The message board has suggested virtually every restaurant and hotel so it looks like you cant go far wrong wherever you go

We live just north of Manchester and no one has heard of Belize so when we mention our paradise of Ambergris it draws blank faces for sure confused confused most people remember the Maddona song though.

Marilyn does not really like getting her face wet when swimming but after seeing the various trip reports, pictures and looking through the site she became determined to try to SNORKEL.

She had a lesson last week at the local pool and not only snorkelled but before the end of the lesson she had also scuba dived. The instructers were impressed by her determination :p :p

Up to now I have only snorkelled on the reef off Cairns in OZ so guess who is now also going to the pool this week for a lesson. mad

Back home here in the U.K. Marilyn is cabaret artist with a tribute show to Bette Midler, and friends. She will be performing the show on New Years Eve at the Mata Chica resort so give them a ring if you would like to catch the show

Looking forward to meeting evryone who will be in Amergris during our stay

Regards Steve and Marilyn
