Da Mermaid flew away last Season, due to the aftermath of Hurricane Keith, but learned from the local folks that the Season last year was still more dynamic than it is this year (so far).
It seems then that 9-11 (Sep. 11) has taken its toll on us, way more than Keith did.
From Da Mermaid's perspective, the island is full of European travellers ( a personal favourite of the Mermaid, due to the diversity of cultures ), however, the more ecnonomic point of view calls for the American tourist to make us flourish for the season and the remainder of the year.
While the European traveller has more to offer in the form of culture and diversity, they tend to take much longer holidays, thus, forcing them to travel on a budget.
The American tourist, however, only gets his hard earned 2 week vacation (if that much), and spends, spends, spends to consume All The Pleasures he possibly can to last him the rest of the year.
I've also learned that while most of the upper scale accommodations are booked for the season (partly because these are the only establishments aware of the profits of the NET; and doubly so, can actually afford a website)..... a lot of the smaller hotels still have room.
In fact, I've even been shocked to learn just a day or two ago that there were still rooms available for as low as $7.50 US Night!
But all in all, this was just a basic post on where we stand right now in CC, and still hoping for a VERY GOOD SEASON.
Da Mermaid is here this season and wants to enjoy and profit from it, both financially and socially, to last her through the slow.
So, Come On Down folks.......
We're waiting for you! - And so is the Sunshine!
Cheers & Island Greetings for the Holidays!
