Hi--This would be our first time visiting--we're thinking sometime late November-early December.

How much are meals/drinks in the local restaurants/stands? We're generally pretty easy to please, fish/chicken/vegetables with a little rum and/or Belikin : )

Thanks!

Breakfast averages around $5 U.S., lunch around $10 U.S., dinner between $10 and $30 U.S. depending on the entree you choose, with lobster being the highest priced item. Happy hour rum and coke is $2 U.S. Bottle of local beer is $1.50 U.S.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks and cheers,

Whenever we're there, our averages are a little lower. But I am a prettty frugal traveler. Our meals eaten out praobably all average between $5-$7 us and we stay at places that have kitchenettes and either bring some food from home or hit up some of the stores for easy to cook food. We usually end up eating breakfast and dinner out and opt to eat lunch at our aprtment just because after swimming all morning, you are usually pretty hungry and its easier just to whip something up. Our motto in Belize has always been "never go to a restraunt hungry." [Linked Image] Sometimes, it takes a while to get your food and if your starved it can seem like an eternity. But the Belikins help kill the time while you are waitng nicely. I

We also eat cheaper, their are enough restaraunts here with lower prices. To be frugal dont eat out for breakfast we find it is the most expensive. We have a pretty good Bakery here, and lots of fruit can be purchased. For lunch you can eat at Syds, Munchies, Rosas, Glendas or Chinese, stew chicken, fried chicken. tacos, burritos, very good fajitas can all be had for $4,00 US or less.Same prices for Dinner.

Happy hour is also less at some bars, local rum drinks are only $1.25 each on a buy one get one free basis.

We eat llike locals, too, which can be cheaper but that isn't why we do it. It is old habit because many of the cheap places have been here a long. Wendy's numbers are good to work with if you plan to eat around. As in any tourist place much depends on drinks with dinner.Last week,I ate an excellent Gnocci in the fanciest place in town, Habaneros. It cost US$13. Served with a US$1.50 water, my bill was US$14.50 plus tip.
The next table came in at the same time and we chatted after dinner awaiting the checks. The guy I spoke with had the Gnocci also. They split three ways. His share was US$39.
