Did anyone else see the damage that a big barge made on the Caye Caulker beachfront today? They were digging up the sea bed making a chanel in front of the Banana Cabana to drop stuff off. No protection for the reef and a lot of locals seemed pretty angry about the reef and fishing that could be hurt from the silt. Aren't there laws for a protected marine park in Belize?

Of course there are. They had to get permission from the Caye Caulker Village Council before they did that. I was told that no one knew what was happening, till one of the council members got a phone call about it. It was then that he went and put a stop to it. They can't do anything else until they have the proper documents to prove that they got permission to destroy our reef and fishing...so to speak!! I'm not sure who was responsible for this sherade, but something should be done about it...that's my opinion!
