We are getting HAMMERED by rain right now...should only last for 2-4 hrs. this is the big rain they've all been talking about. We can stand it up the coast where the land is higher than lots of areas.

RE: heavy rain report above:
Chantal blossomed a big circular cloud top in her southeast area, still over you. She's only supposed to be doing that in her west and northwest areas.
Earlier in the day and yesterday they were scratching their heads over rival attempted circulation centers, and we've seen signs of that today.
When those things spring up, they grow and spread irrespective of storm movement. So while the storm is going away from you, this tail feather is growing over and encompassing you.
Appreciate your letting us know. I was beginning to wonder if there was any correlation between the satellite images and what's happening on the island.
Two to four hours should be about right.

not only is it raining, we're getting a 40mph sustained blow from the north. don't know what's up there, was figuring on getting some westerly before long. This shit is SERIOUS, I mean like, 8-10" is not out of the question. We got 24-30" in 24 hrs in May, so I know rain when it's running down my leg.
Enough is enough, we could use a break soon. Been going on 2 hrs. at this rate 4 hrs is conservative.

that white section of the GEOS that is RAIN is just sittin there. the left edge of its circle is inside the border of land to your north, but just barely.
so the rain may stay awhile

the latest GOES shows the 'center' or white heavy rain part finally starting to move inland over the Yucatan. It had been stuck at the waters edge for quite awhile....
this is the first real movement in this part in about 4-5 1/2 hour cycles.
tho there just happens to be a white hot rain ball thats kind of off to the side and its sitting right over ambergris.

rains still not showing any signs off easing down.
I peeked thru the door and noticed about 3 or 4 inches of rainfall in the Sands yard right across from Martha's.
