Turtle Inn Named Finalist at Readers Choice Awards

Belize City, Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 - Turtle Inn, Placencia, has been named a finalist in the Condé Nast Traveler eighteenth annual Readers' Choice Awards. The Condé Nast Traveler readers' choice awards are the highest honor in the travel industry. The Award Ceremony will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, October 7th, 2005.

The Condé Nast Traveler readers' choice poll was designed to determine the travel behavior and opinions of Condé Nast Traveler subscribers, based on their personal experiences in Hotels and other areas. To achieve their results this year, they tabulated 28,000 responses to questionnaires delivered randomly to subscribers for the April and May issues, as well as to some online subscribers. Subscribers were invited to evaluate a record of 2,500 properties, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies. The number and depth of the responses made Readers' Choice results the most reliable measurement of consumer preferences in the world of travel.

"We are proud and trilled that Turtle Inn has been chosen as a finalist for this prestigious award", comments Tourism Director, Tracy Taegar-Panton. "This was achieved as a result of the dedication and commitment of their hardworking staff who demonstrate the true Belizean hospitality. Congratulations, Turtle Inn, on a job well done."

It is important to note that at BTB's Fifth Annual Tourism Awards Ceremony in December of 2004, Turtle Inn was awarded Hotel of the Year for setting international standards and expectations and for assisting its guests to see Belize as a culturally interesting destination, as well as a socially responsible destination.

Condé Nast Traveler is a well-known upscale magazine that caters to the seasoned and frequent traveler and provides a circulation of 750,000. It is also the only travel publication to have won a National Magazine Award, the highest honor in magazine publishing.
